The 15-year-old from Guildford widely impressed with front-running performances in the highly-competitive Ginetta Junior Championship last season, ending on a high with his maiden podium in the category at the Brands Hatch finale.

Prior to tin-tops, Pearson enjoyed a strong career in karting, predominantly competing in the X30 Junior and Mini categories before shifting his focus to car racing.

“I’m very excited to confirm my plans to move into the ROKiT F4 British Championship with Virtousi Racing for 2022,” said Pearson.

“To join such a prestigious team for my first steps on the FIA single-seater pathway is only a benefit for me, and I can’t wait to continue our work throughout the rest of pre-season leading up to the first round at Donington Park.

“I’m no stranger to a high level of competition, having raced on the BTCC support package in Ginetta Juniors, but I’m aware this will be a new challenge, but one I’m ready to face head on. The car is fantastic, and I can’t wait to get racing underway in the Spring.”

Pearson’s signing marks a landmark moment for Virtuosi as the championship-contending FIA Formula 2 outfit expand their operations into Britain’s FIA Formula 4 series for their first season in a new era for the championship under Motorsport UK’s organisation.

The rising star will now embark on a thorough pre-season testing campaign with Andy Roche’s outfit, taking in a number of the UK’s most-challenging circuits before the ten-event, 30-race season begins at Donington Park on 23-24 April.

Virtuosi’s ROKiT British F4 Team Manager, Mark Salmon, underlined his happiness at having Pearson join the fold for the season ahead.

“We are delighted to welcome Edward Pearson into the Virtuosi Racing family,” commented Salmon.

“Edward competed in Ginetta Juniors last year where he showed great potential and gained a good knowledge of all the circuits on the 2022 British F4 race calendar.

“We are excited to get pre-season testing under way and looking forward to a strong season ahead.”

Pearson joins a growing list of confirmed drivers for the season ahead, including Aiden Neate, Daniel Guinchard (both Phinsys by Argenti), and Carlin’s Ugo Ugochukwu.

The series commences at Donington Park at the end of April and runs through until the finale at Brands Hatch in October, with action broadcast live and free-to-air on ITV4.
