Over the past quarter of a century, JHR have competed in a number of championships in both single-seaters and saloons, such as Renault Clio Cup UK, Britcar, Seat Cupra Championship and Porsche Carrera Cup GB. The team has also recorded championship success in both the Ginetta Junior (2014 and 2010) and the Ginetta GT Supercup.
The team’s long-established link with the TOCA support categories of the British Touring Car Championship continued in 2015 when JHR joined the inaugural British F4 series, and they have competed in every year of the championship since.
In their second season in F4, Chesterfield racer Sennan Fielding just missed out on the title by seven points to Max Fewtrell. Two seasons later, the team’s Ayrton Simmons was also runner-up in the series, despite four wins and a massive haul of 374 points.
Consistency gave the team second place in the teams’ standings in 2019 and in 2021, the team became the first to wrap up a hat-trick of titles in Britain’s FIA Formula 4 series, taking both the Drivers and Rookie titles with Matthew Rees, as well as securing the Teams Cup honours.
With state-of-the-art, dedicated simulator facilities on-site at their Dronfield base and an open-book policy on data and information between drivers, JHR are statistically one of the most successful outfits in British F4’s history.
JHR’s continued commitment to Britain’s FIA Formula 4 series will mark over half a decade of race-winning outings for Steven Hunter’s team in 2022.
