Founded: 2015

Based: Silverstone, Northamptonshire

Team Principal: Oliver Oakes

2025 marks a decade of racing for Hitech. Based a stone’s throw from the Silverstone circuit, the team embarked on its first full season of racing in 2016. With each successive year, the team has scaled its racing operations, expanding into new national and international championships.

The success story began with Oliver Oakes’ bold step from driver to team owner at the age of 25, reprising the Hitech name which had enjoyed a long and illustrious history in motorsport under previous ownership.

Hitech’s inaugural campaign, a three-car team in the FIA Formula 3 Championship, included a young 16-year-old by the name of George Russell. He was a Mercedes Junior Team driver, and the Formula 1 powerhouse had entrusted his development to Hitech for the team’s debut season. McLaren, Red Bull, Ferrari, Williams and Alpine have since gone on to do the same and today Hitech nurtures rising stars from each of those academies at every level of the single-seater pyramid.

2025 marks Hitech’s fourth season in the F4 British Championship and will see the outfit defending both the Drivers’ and Teams’ titles. Deagen Fairclough dominated the 2024 campaign for the squad, breaking one record after another to secure 14 victories, and earning the Silverstone Autosport BRDC Young Driver of the Year Award. Consistent wins and podiums helped Hitech triumph in the Teams’ Cup after two seasons as the series’ Vice-Champions.

In Formula 2, 2020 marked the British-based team’s first campaign, which saw them finish fourth overall with both Russian Nikita Mazepin and Italian racer Luca Ghiotto scoring a win apiece.

That strong form continued into 2021 as Hitech’s Liam Lawson won the opening round of the season in Bahrain, while his team-mate Jüri Vips was a double winner at the notoriously tough Baku Street Circuit.

Subsequent campaigns saw current Formula 1 aspirants Isack Hadjar, Paul Aron – and now Luke Browning and Dino Beganovic – showcasing their talent whilst keeping Hitech at the forefront of this hugely competitive series.

In F3, Hitech enjoyed three successful seasons in the FIA European Formula 3 series, a highlight of which was the 2016 campaign which took George Russell to third overall in the points race, with victories in Pau and Spa-Francorchamps.

When the series evolved following the merger with GP3, Hitech joined the new FIA Formula 3 Championship for 2019. The team were runners-up that year with Estonian Yüri Vips taking three wins and one for team-mate Leonardo Pulcini.

Liam Lawson, Gabriele Mini, Luke Browning and Martinius Stenshorne honed their craft with the squad over the following seasons, Williams Racing Academy protégé Browning waging an exceptional and close-fought campaign that went right down to the wire, ultimately placing third overall. His two wins, podium and consistent points finishes, supported by strong results from team-mate Stenshorne, kept Hitech in the title fight throughout.

After two seasons of British F3, Hitech joined the new GB3 Championship in 2022, winning the drivers’ title with Luke Browning and the teams’ title on their first attempt. A strong 2024 campaign with Tymek Kucharczyk, Will Macintyre and Gerrard Xie concluded with the Polish driver securing third place and the team, the Vice-Champion spot.

Along the way, Hitech has also enjoyed success in a number of other regional series at Formula 3 and Formula 4 level, in Asia and the Middle East. In 2024, the team competed in a round of Euro F4 and announced its plans to expand into Formula Winter Series and F1 Academy in 2025.
