Founded: 2010
Based: Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire
Team Principal: Chris Dittmann
For the past decade, Chris Dittmann Racing has been one of the leading teams in the BRDC British Formula 3 series with numerous victories and championship-challenging campaigns. For 2022, the team will expand to additionally race cars in the F4 British Championship certified by FIA.
Founded and run by racing driver and mechanical engineer Chris Dittmann, the Tewkesbury-based outfit initially began in the highly competitive Ginetta G50 Cup back in 2010 and ran, amongst other drivers, current W Series racer Alice Powell.
In 2012 the team expanded into the newly launched F3 Cup and Dittmann became the inaugural F3 Cup drivers’ champion, with the team narrowly missing out on the teams’ championship. In the following seasons, CDR ran parallel campaigns in both BRDC F4 and F3 until a merger of categories in 2016.
Strong campaigns continued in Formula 3 and in 2019, British driver Ayrton Simmons scored a third-place finish overall with ten podiums, including three wins (two at Silverstone and one at Spa-Francorchamps). In addition, Cian Carey triumphed in the MSVR-run F3 Cup series, almost 60 points clear of his nearest rival, to give Chris Dittmann Racing their third drivers’ and second teams’ titles in the category.
The Gloucestershire-based team ran stalwart Ayrton Simmons again in the GB3 Championship in 2021 and with four wins, just missed out on the title to Carlin’s Zak O’Sullivan.
Chris Dittmann Racing’s expansion into the F4 British Championship for 2022 is a significant milestone for the team which offers drivers a crucial link between their F4 and F3 activities.
