Promising youngster Chloe Chong joins JHR Developments for maiden F4 British campaign

JHR Developments is delighted to announce that British/Canadian youngster Chloe Chong will join its ranks in the F4 British Championship for 2024, after she made her debut in F1 Academy last year.

The 16-year-old fell in love with motorsport as a child and followed one of her heroes, Sir Lewis Hamilton, into karting in 2013. Initially competing on home soil in the United Kingdom, she tackled the European scene in 2021 and the following year was one of the four finalists in the FIA Women In Motorsport ‘Girls on Track – Rising Stars’ programme at Ferrari’s Maranello base.

Making her car racing debut in 2023, Chloe joined the newly launched F1 Academy with just one month’s notice and, despite being the youngest driver on the grid, took a sixth place at the season opener at the Red Bull Ring and had three top eight finishes to close the year in Austin.

Chloe comes into the campaign aiming to continue her learning behind the wheel, as well as achieving the best results possible, and has been working hard in the gym, on the sim, and on the mental side of competition as she readies for her next challenge.

The 2024 F4 British Championship season begins at Donington Park in April and will once again enjoy a standalone event on the Silverstone Grand Prix circuit as well as taking in its maiden international race at Zandvoort in July.

JHR Developments comes into the new year having secured the Teams’ title in the GB3 Championship and swept the board with the Drivers’, Rookie, and Teams’ honours in British F4 during the 2021 season. The team will make further driver announcements for both its F4 British and GB3 campaigns in due course.

“I’m delighted to be joining JHR Developments in British F4 this year. The super close competition of this field and track time available made it a natural decision to take in this next step of my career.

“My very first experience in a race car was with JHR so I couldn’t be happier to return and work with them this season. Thank you to Steven Hunter and the team for the warm welcome, as well as my amazing family and supporters involved. I can’t wait to get started next month as I’m confident and ready to put in the work for an exciting year ahead.”

“We’ve known Chloe for a couple of years, as she has been testing with us to familiarise herself with cars, coming out of karting. Her desire to keep improving, put into practice what she has learned before, and make strides forward has made her a delight to work with. We’re looking forward to seeing how she gets on this season in British F4 and continuing to develop her as a talented racing driver.”
