FAIRCLOUGH EXTENDS CHAMPIONSHIP LEAD WITH POLE AND RACE 1 WIN AT ZANDVOORT

Hitech Pulse-Eight’s Deagen Fairclough claimed another C1RCUIT Watches Pole Position Award at Zandvoort for Round 6 of the ROKiT British F4, certified by the FIA in yesterday’s wet Qualifying session.

Fairclough had a gap of 0.377 tenths over his teammate Reza Seewooruthun in second with the Virtuosi Racing pairing of Maxwell Dodds in third and Martin Molnar in fourth for their season-best qualifying efforts. Yuanpu Cui (Phinsys by Argenti) rounded out the top five for the session.

It was a double Pole for Fairclough with his second-fastest lap time securing him Pole Position for the weekend;s first race.

In wet conditions, Deagen Fairclough lined up on the front row with Martin Molnar joining him in second. Maxwell Dodds and Alex Ninovic (Rodin Motorsport) made up row two, with Ella Lloyd (JHR Developments) and Reza Seewooruthun in fifth and sixth.

Fairclough held the lead off the line with Molnar slotting into second. Ella Lloyd got a good start from the third row, which saw her move into third going into Turn One, before running wide and dropping down the order. Ninovic capitalised on this ending lap one in third with Maxwell Dodds in fourth.

Series newcomer Ernesto Rivera (Hitech Pulse-Eight) and Fortec Motorsport’s Kai Daryanani found themselves in a fierce battle for fifth on the first lap.

As Fairclough continued to extend his lead, Alex Ninovic had his sights set on Martin Molnar for second place, making the move early on to chase down the race leader, however there was no stopping Fairclough who had built a gap of 4.3 seconds with ten minutes of racing still to come.

Trouble struck Jack Sherwood (Rodin Motorsport) as he found the wall on one of Zandvoort’s infamous banked turns, leaving his front wing stranded in the middle of the circuit; the marshals doing a great job to clear this without the need of a safety car intervention.

At the end of the race, it was Deagen Fairclough who crossed the line 8. 9 seconds ahead of Alex Ninovic to take his first win of the weekend. Martin Molnar finished third, making his first trip to the overall podium and taking his first Rookie Cup win of the season. Maxwell Dodds added to his season-best form and finished fourth with Ernesto Rivera finishing his first ROKiT British F4 race inside the top 5.

Joining Molnar and Rivera on the Rookie Cup Podium was Phinsys by Argenti’s Yuanpu Cui adding to his tally of podium appearances this season.

Deagen Fairclough earned an extra point for setting the Motul Fastest lap in Race 1.

Unfortunately, due to an incident at the start of Race 2 following a technical issue at the circuit, the second British F4 race at Zandvoort Circuit was abandoned.

This race has been rescheduled for 08:10 CEST on Sunday 14 July. The final race of the event has been moved back by 10 minutes and will now start at 13:55 CEST. Both races will be live on the ROKiT British F4 YouTube Channel.
