Fortec Motorsports is very happy to announce that Canadian Alex Berg will be the third driver in its 2024 F4 British Championship line-up.
The 17-year-old is the son of former F1 racer Allen and has a wide range of experience and success behind him. He secured a Mazda Motorsports USA scholarship for a place on the grid in the Spec MX-5 Challenge in 2021, winning the South Region championship title in 2022.
That year he also competed in the F4 United States Championship, finishing an impressive fifth in the standings despite running in a single-car team. He also earned the Omologato Award for the perfectly timed move of the race at Virginia International Raceway (VIR), after gaining 14 positions in the final contest.
Returning to the series in 2023, Alex took his maiden victory at New Jersey Motorsports Park after starting from pole position, and added three further podium finishes with strong drives at Road America, Mid-Ohio, and VIR.
He has also raced in the United Kingdom, having represented Team Canada in the Formula Ford Festival and at the Walter Hayes Trophy, qualifying for the final at both events.
Having tested with Fortec Motorsports, which won the 2020 F4 British Championship title, Alex will return for a full season of competition in the UK, which will include races at Silverstone and Zandvoort – homes of the British and Dutch Grands Prix.
Alex Berg
“I am incredibly excited to be racing in British F4 with Fortec Motorsports. It is a team with a great history with many of their past drivers now racing in Formula One. I’m looking forward to the first rounds at Donington Park on April 27 and 28th and I am confident that with the Fortec team behind my back, we will do very well this season.
“It has been a lot of hard work over the off-season to make this possible, so I’d like to give a huge thanks to my partners Rohde & Liesenfeld, BBC Chartering, FLS Group, TransCar UK & Atna Pharmaceutical Consulting, EasyDrift Technologies as well as Road To Racing Canada. You can learn more about my partners on my website, AlexBergRacing.com.”
Oliver Dutton, Team Manager
“We’re very happy to welcome Alex to the team and are looking forward to working with him throughout the year in the F4 British Championship. He has been fast and done well in the United States and we’ll be continuing to help him develop and grow as a racing driver. We’ve already had a positive impression with him during testing and know he will be putting in the hours ready to hit the ground running at Donington Park.”
