Knockhill hosts ROKiT British F4’s annual pilgrimage north of the Scottish border, and the iconic 1.27-mile Fife venue is notorious for its narrow, undulating nature – a true challenge in a single seater.
Drivers kick off each lap with blind faith; from the cockpit, the apex at Duffus Dip, a down-hill, right-hander, is almost blind, before moving back to the left under braking at Leslie’s and McIntyre’s.
The uphill Black Circles Chicane requires a committed car over the kerbs – it’s a corner where you can gain relatively little but lose plenty of time. The gradient continues to rise on the run through Clark’s and Hislop’s before drivers slam on the brakes for Taylor’s Hairpin and the run up to the line.
With a knowledgeable and enthusiastic local crowd, the atmosphere at Knockhill always leaves an impression, matched only by the commitment and skill required to excel on-track.
