Phinsys by Argenti’s Adam Fitzgerald has been named the Pirelli ‘Hardest Charger’ for his overtaking exploits at the ROKiT F4 British Championship certified by FIA triple header at Thruxton last weekend [28-29 May].
The Irishman has steadily continued to move his way through the ranks in Britain’s FIA Formula 4 series in the three meetings of his rookie season thus far, so his 14th place qualifying result around the high-speed Hampshire venue was a little lower than the teenager from County Galway had expected.
Undeterred, he set about making amends, rising four places through the order in the opening contest to score his first top-ten finish in the championship. He nearly repeated the feat in an action-packed reverse grid race on Sunday morning, moving from 14th to 11th, but ended the weekend on a high note with eighth spot, another six passes bringing his total to 13.
As a result, he wins the Pirelli ‘Hardest Charger’ Award for Thruxton, and with it a free set of tyres for use during testing. Previous winners this season include JHR’s Georgi Dimitrov and Virtuosi Racing’s Michael Shin, meaning each winner thus far in 2022 has come from a different team, highlighting the strength in depth of the competition in the globally-recognised first step on the FIA single-seater pathway.
Another winner will be chosen after Oulton Park on 11-12 June, and at each of the six subsequent race meetings in the 2022 season.
