The winner of the Wera Tools British F4 Jake Cook Memorial Award for 2025 is Tommy Harfield of Chris Dittmann Racing.
The Jake Cook Memorial Award is unique in British F4, as it is voted for by the Team Managers of the paddock and given to a current season British F4 driver who has shown determination, hard work, resilience, personality and respect throughout the year.
It was first awarded in 2024, with Martin Molnár – that year’s Rookie Cup champion who went on to finish third in 2025 – becoming the inaugural winner.
Jake was a familiar face in the British F4 paddock, having previously raced Ginetta Juniors, Formula Ford and Formula Renault. In 2010, Jake became the first driver to be awarded the MSA’s Young Driver of the Year Award, before generously sharing the skills he had accumulated, from a sport he had loved, as an Academy coach, supporting many drivers on the British F4 grid amongst others.
Sadly, Jake passed away in November 2023, having encountered mental health struggles. His family, led by his wife and British F4 Championship Manager Eve Lake-Grange, created this award to ensure that Jake’s memory lives on and keeps his name alive in motorsport.
As well as a trophy, the winner of the Jake Cook Memorial Award receives a cheque for £500, which is matched by Eve with an equivalent donation towards mental health charity Mind.
Announcing the winner at the end-of-season awards presentation at Brands Hatch, Eve Lake-Grange said: “This award was created in Jake’s memory, and the winning driver epitomises many of his traits; someone committed to improving, who has determination and has really grown as a driver, showing respect both on and off the track.
“It was decided by the Team Managers here in this paddock; people who have an eye for talent and who recognise and mould stars of the future, who felt that Tommy had natural talent, and a grounded character with persistent determination.
“We’ve all watched Tommy grow and improve as a driver through the year and I am happy that he is a very worthy winner of the 2025 Jake Cook Memorial Award.”
Tommy commented, “It’s a huge bonus being awarded the Jake Cook Memorial Award for the year. Thanks to everyone who chose me and to Eve for the amazing trophy – it’s a real honour.”
