Adam Al Azhari and James Piszcyk Star on Historical British F4 Weekend at Silverstone

Adam Al Azhari wrote his name into the history books of the Wera Tools F4 British Championship certified by FIA at Silverstone today (May 3), after charging to victory in the series’ 300th race, before James Piszcyk went on to triumph in a frenetic finale.

Concluding a milestone weekend around the Home of British Motor Racing, the UK’s premier single-seater category closed out its second event of the 2025 campaign by delivering two action-packed encounters around the 3.66-mile Grand Prix circuit.

Rodin Motorsport’s Al Azhari became the latest new face to stand on the top step of the podium as he pulled off a sensational double overtake on the opening lap to reign supreme and win the reverse grid contest.

Xavier Avramides (Hitech TGR) started from pole position and maintained the race lead as the lights went out, however he soon came under pressure from Rowan Campbell-Pilling (JHR Developments) and Al Azhari as the field streamed through the first half of the lap.

Getting a much superior run out of Stowe, Campbell-Pilling made an audacious dive down the inside of Avramides at Vale, but his momentum ran him deep into the corner and subsequently opened the door for Al Azhari to sweep past both of them and claim top spot.

Once out front the Emirati driver kept Campbell-Pilling at arms length and, despite having to deal with a late, but brief, safety car period – caused by Joel Bergström (JHR Developments) coming to a stop on-track – Al Azhari was wheel-perfect to win his first and British F4’s 300th race.

Tommy Harfield (Chris Dittmann Racing) made some early moves to work his way forward and complete the podium in third while Thomas Bearman (Hitech TGR) finished an unscathed fourth after encountering his team-mate Fionn McLaughlin mid-corner at Luffield in the opening exchanges.

August Raber (Argenti Motorsport), Henry Joslyn (Fortec Motorsport), Ethan Jeff-Hall (Argenti Motorsport), recovering pole-sitter Avramides, Leo Robinson (Hitech TGR) and Martin Molnár (Virtuosi Racing) completed the top ten, with Raber securing an additional championship point for the fastest lap.

After dominating proceedings on Friday with double-pole and a win, Piszcyk (Rodin Motorsport) claimed a second lights-to-flag victory of the weekend and third of the season to strengthen his early championship credentials in race three.

Starting from pole position, Piszcyk and second-place runner Molnár quickly broke clear of the chasing pack; however it was Piszcyk that looked un-phased out front – handling a safety car period and restart at mid-distance with relative ease – before going on to take the chequered flag.

While the Rodin ace comfortably led the way, Molnár was constant threat in second place, but was unable to launch a meaningful challenge, despite bagging the fastest lap of the race.

One of the most captivating battles came for third place as McLaughlin and Jeff-Hall spent a number of laps dicing for position. After an enthralling back-and-forth, Red Bull-backed McLaughlin came out on top to secure yet another podium finish.

Jeff-Hall ultimately settled for fourth with Robinson, Campbell-Pilling, Bearman, Avramides, Joslyn and Al Azhari rounding out the top ten positions.

Leaving Silverstone, Piszcyk holds an eight-point advantage at the top of the Drivers’ Championship whilst McLaughlin heads the early going in the Rookie Cup. At the summit of the Challenge Cup, Charlie Edge (Chris Dittmann Racing) clutches a slender lead over Harfield.

The Wera Tools F4 British Championship certified by FIA continues its 2025 campaign in less than three weeks’ time, with Snetterton in Norfolk providing the setting for Rounds 7, 8 & 9 on May 24-25. Sunday’s races will be broadcast live on free to air TV in the UK on ITV4 and live streamed outside the UK on the championship’s YouTube channel.
