Provisional 2024 ROKiT British F4 Champion Degan Fairclough of Hitech Pulse-Eight is among the final four Silverstone Autosport BRDC Award candidates.
The finalists all stand a chance of becoming the 35th winner of the programme, which set out to find and assist the best British rising stars in single-seater motorsport.
Deagen Fairclough became the provisional ROKiT British F4 champion last weekend at Silverstone, earning himself enough of a points lead over Rodin Motorsport’s Alex Ninovic to clinch the title with five races to go.
The Hitech Pulse-Eight driver has also broken the record of the most in-season race wins, after winning his 12th of the season last Sunday, a record previously held by 2022 champion, Alex Dunne. In a season where Fairclough truly showed his consistent form, he stood on the podium a further eight times bringing his total to 20 visits in 2024.
2023 Champion Louis Sharp and British F4 alumni, Freddie Slater have both been named as finalists. Sharp claimed the 2023 championship after it went down to the final race of the season at Brands Hatch. He has continued to excel in 2024 in GB3, where he will once again be in the title hunt this weekend.
Sharp, although brought up in New Zealand, qualifies for the prize as he was born in Nottingham before his family moved abroad, granting the kiwi eligibility for the awrd.
Freddie Slater joined the 2023 grid at Donington Park for the season’s final two events. He’s currently leading the Italian F4 standings with Prema Racing and is the reigning F4 UAE Champion.
Now that Fairclough has been announced in the final four, he will be assessed across several categories in the hopes of becoming the winner.
Drivers will jump into three different types of machinery which include a Motorsport Vision F2 car as well as RLR M Sport Ligier LMP3 and Beechdean Motorsport Aston Martin Vantage GT3 cars, in a two-day test at Silverstone.
This along with fitness tests conducted by Porsche Human Performance and simulator analysis will lead to the winner being announced at the Autosport Awards in January.
The prize includes £200,000 and a Formula 1 test with Aston Martin Aramco Formula One® Team, giving the winner an unprecedented experience at this stage of their careers.
