Isaac Barashi has outlined his title ambitions after re-signing with Phinsys by Argenti for the 2023 ROKiT F4 British Championship certified by FIA season.
The 17-year-old entered the final two events of the 2022 campaign at Silverstone and Brands Hatch GP with the Northamptonshire team.
In only his second ever single seater race, Barashi showcased his potential, overtaking 12 cars at Silverstone National en-route to his first points-scoring finish, plus a Rookie Cup podium finish. He scored further points in the reverse grid race at Brands GP to round out a promising induction to Britain’s FIA Formula 4 series.
His entry into the latter part of the 2022 season enabled him to gain crucial mileage and racing experience in the Tatuus T-421 ahead of a full season assault in 2023. Barashi also recently took part in the post-season New Driver Test at Snetterton, kickstarting a busy winter programme with Argenti on the front foot.
“I feel extremely grateful and excited to be racing in the 2023 ROKiT British F4 season with Argenti Motorsport,” says Barashi on the news.
“They have helped me throughout by whole motorsport journey which only started last year, I feel very lucky to have their help coming into the 2023 season.
“Taking part in the last two races of the 2022 season has helped me gain confidence and an understanding as to what happens on a race weekend. I feel it went well, scoring a good number of points and picking up a rookie trophy on my debut race at Silverstone was a huge achievement.
“My testing program with Argenti has helped me massively to get familiar and up to speed with British tracks. Heading into the 2023 season my goal is to stay consistent and score points in every round, I want to be fighting for the championship title.”
Barashi joins Australian teenager Patrick Heuzenroeder as the first two members of Argenti’s 2023 line up, with Michael Meadows’ team looking to continue their run of winning races and push for a maiden championship next year.
“It’s great to have Isaac with us for 2023. The plan was always a test program and two events in 2022 to warm up for a full campaign,” said Meadows.
“He’s been with Argenti for a long time and has shown a lot of progress. We are excited to continue this in 2023 and build on the strong foundations laid this year.”
Barashi’s announcement makes it nine confirmed drivers for the 2023 season to-date. The series will break new ground next year with a first-ever visit to the full Grand Prix circuit at Silverstone, plus nine events in support of the high-profile British Touring Car Championship.
Donington Park, Leicestershire hosts the season opener on 22-23 April, 2023. Further driver announcements will be made in due course.
