British F4 braced for blockbuster Brands Hatch title-decider

The Wera Tools F4 British Championship, certified by FIA is set for a grandstand finish at Brands Hatch this weekend (October 10-11) as Dries Van Langendonck and Lewis Wherrell battle to be crowned 2026 Drivers’ Champion.

Bringing the curtain down on a campaign that has seen 13 different race winners and a total of 19 different podium finishers, the destiny of this year’s title race now boils down to three blockbuster encounters around the legendary 2.433-mile Grand Prix circuit in Kent.

Rodin Motorsport’s Van Langendonck heads into the series finale with one hand very much on the coveted crown, having built up a 72-point lead over JHR Developments’ Wherrell in recent rounds. For reference, the maximum that anyone can score this weekend is 75 points.

It won’t just be the Drivers’ Championship that will be decided in the UK’s premier single-seater series either, as both the Rookie Cup and Teams’ Cup titles are still to be settled over the course of the weekend.

The Final Showdown

A season that has encompassed ten weekends, seven different venues, two countries and an incredible 42 drivers from 21 nationalities, comes to a close at Brands Hatch – the question now is, who will now walk away savouring title glory.

As it stands, the deck is firmly stacked in favour of Van Langendonck who has been nothing short of sublime this term. Eight wins, a further three podium finishes and four CADOLA Pole Position Awards have provided the backbone to his charge to-date.

Needing just a handful of points to seal the deal, the Belgian can afford to play the percentages this weekend. He could wrap up the title in Qualifying; however, the expectation is that Van Langendonck will want to end a meteoric campaign in the style that he has become synonymous for.

British racer Wherrell meanwhile has nothing to lose and everything to gain as he bids to pull off what would without a doubt be one of the biggest comebacks in British F4 history. The three-time race winner will be on maximum attack, that’s for sure.

It’s not just the Drivers’ Championship that Van Langendonck and Wherrell are battling over as they are also the top-two in the Rookie Cup standings. There, Van Langendonck holds a 23.5-point lead over his season-long rival.

Hitech are also within touching distance of ending Rodin Motorsport’s two-year stranglehold in the Teams’ Cup. Arriving at Brands Hatch with an 83.5-point lead, drivers Theo Palmer, Scott Kin Lindblom, Chiara Bättig and Adam Al Azhari will hope to seal the deal as early as possible this weekend.

Chasing Glory

Of course, it isn’t just about the top-two at Brands Hatch as behind them, a whole host of drivers will be bidding to sign off their respective seasons on a high.

Palmer currently sits third, but could yet snatch second from Wherrell in the fight towards the top of the standings, while George Proudford-Nalder (Virtuosi Racing), Ethan Lennon (Rodin Motorsport) and Scott Kin Lindblom (Hitech) – all have silverware in their sights.

Elsewhere, Chris Dittmann Racing’s Tommy Harfield will be eager to add to the win that he scored last time out a Silverstone, while Adam Al Azhari (Hitech), Jarrett Clark (Virtuosi Racing) and Jaber Alsabah (Xcel Motorsport) will also be worth keeping an eye on.
