The 2026 Wera Tools F4 British Championship, certified by FIA is set for a title showdown in less than two weeks’ time, after the series delivered an action-packed penultimate event of the season at Silverstone today (September 27).
Taking centre stage at the Home of British Motor Racing, Chris Dittmann Racing’s Tommy Harfield stormed to victory in the reverse-grid bout, becoming the championship’s thirteenth race winner of 2026, before Rodin Motorsport’s Dries Van Langendonck then came to the fore to triumph in the weekend’s feature race.
In the battle for title glory, McLaren Development Driver Van Langendonck now sits on the cusp of clinching the coveted crown after extending his advantage over nearest rival Lewis Wherrell (JHR Developments) to 72 points.
Sunday began with Harfield becoming the 13th different winner of the season as he charged to victory ahead of Jarrett Clark (Virtuosi Racing) and Chiara Bättig (Hitech) in a thrilling reverse grid encounter.
Starting from pole position, the British racer made a flawless launch as the red lights went out and quickly established an advantage over the chasing pack, who were all embroiled in a raft of captivating battles.
Maintaining a lead of just under a second throughout the race, Harfield commanded proceedings. Behind him, Arjen Kraling (Argenti Motorsport) was sat in second and on course to claim a maiden British F4 podium finish before a late time penalty put a damper on his charge.
Kraling’s demise promoted Clark to second place at the chequered flag, however he was made to work for the position after soaking up an onslaught of pressure from Red Bull Junior driver Bättig in the latter stages.
The Swiss racer was one to watch as she scythed her way up the order before meeting the resolute defence of Clark. Despite her best efforts, Bättig couldn’t find a way past and ultimately settled for third, which in-turn guaranteed her a second podium of her 2026 campaign.
Theo Palmer (Hitech) was one of many drivers in the thick of the action as he fought his way up to fourth, finishing narrowly ahead of Ethan Lennon (Rodin Motorsport) and championship leader Van Langendonck.
Wherrell meanwhile had been a driver on the march in the opening exchanges, however a sideways moment at Brooklands, while challenging Lennon for fifth late on, saw him drop behind chief title rival Van Langendonck.
Completing the top-ten was the penalised Kraling, Cole Hewetson (Xcel Motorsport) and Haarni Sadiq (JHR Developments) – who also secured the Lotus Fastest Lap.
The weekend’s third and final contest from the UK’s premier single-seater series then saw Van Langendonck edge ever closer to championship superstardom as he tallied his eighth win of the season in emphatic fashion.
Making a textbook start from pole position, the Belgian was wheel-perfect at the front to triumph ahead of Wherrell, who despite his best efforts was unable to get close enough to make a meaningful move stick on the Belgian teenager.
Settling for second place in the end, Wherrell held off the advances of Palmer who continued his fine run of recent form by bagging yet another podium in third. Finishing in their wheel tracks and completing the top five was Lennon and Joseph Smith (Virtuosi Racing).
Adam Al Azhari (Hitech) enjoyed his best drive of the weekend as he crossed the line in sixth, ahead of Clark, race two winner Harfield, Kraling and Mate Kobakhidze (Xcel Motorsport) – who rounded out the top ten and the rookie podium. Van Langendonck also secured the Lotus Fastest Lap Award.
Leaving Silverstone, the destiny of the Drivers’ Championship, Rookie Cup and Team’s Cup are all to be decided at next month’s season finale at Brands Hatch.
Boasting a 72-point lead at the summit of the standings, Van Langendonck heads to the Kent circuit with one hand on the overall crown. He now also holds the advantage in the Rookie Cup, while Hitech look on course to wrestle the Team’s Cup away from Rodin Motorsport.
The Wera Tools F4 British Championship, certified by FIA will close out its 2026 season with three blockbuster races around the legendary Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit on October 10-11.
