Six former British F4 drivers line up for Macau GP

Several former British F4 drivers are set to take part in the upcoming FIA FR World Cup Macau GP this weekend.

Held at the 6.1km-long Guia Circuit in Macau, an autonomous region on the south coast of China, the Macau GP is one of the most prestigious single-seater races in motorsport, and attracts many of the world’s top junior drivers.

Previously run according to Formula 3 regulations, 2024 has seen the switch made to Formula Regional cars for the first time.

Historically, the Macau GP has seen plenty of success for British F4 drivers; our 2020 champion Luke Browning claimed victory in 2023’s race, while Dan Ticktum, who competed in British F4 in 2015, is a double Macau GP winner (2017 & 2018). Lando Norris, 2015 British F4 champion; Logan Sargeant, P3 in 2017; and Dennis Hauger, P4 in 2018, have all enjoyed Macau GP podium finishes.

This year, our 2022 champion Alex Dunne is one of six British F4 alumni lining up on the grid for the 2024 Macau GP.

The Irishman, who picked up 11 wins and 17 podium finishes on his way to the British F4 title with Hitech Pulse-Eight, will race for PREMA this weekend, alongside Brit Freddie Slater, this year’s Italian F4 champion who competed at two rounds of the 2023 British F4 championship with Double R Racing.

American driver Ugo Ugochukwu, who was the British F4 Rookie champion in 2022 and finished P3 overall with Carlin, will also feature this weekend for R-ace GP.

Kanato Le (Japan), P7 with Hitech Pulse-Eight in 2023, and Kai Daryanani (India), P12 with Fortec Motorsport this year, will compete for Art GP and Evans GP respectively in Macau. Matteo De Palo (Italy), who raced at two British F4 rounds with Argenti in 2023, will also take part in Macau with PHM Racing.
