The Silverstone National Circuit is set to hold the penultimate round of the ROKiT British F4 Championship certified by the FIA this coming weekend. This marks the championship’s second visit to Silverstone this season, following an earlier event on the Grand Prix layout of the iconic Northampton track.
The National configuration offers drivers a different, but nonetheless daunting challenge, with its combination of high-speed and slower technical corners with plenty of opportunities for overtaking.
The previous round at Donington Park’s GP layout saw multiple drivers take to the top step of the podium with championship contenders Degan Fairclough (Hitech Pulse-Eight) and Alex Ninovic (Rodin Motorsport) winning a race a piece. Fairclough now looks likely to wrap up the championship this weekend, ahead of the final round at Brands Hatch.
James Higgins (Rodin Motorsport) and Rowan Campbell-Pilling both enjoyed stand out performances at the previous round with Higgins securing his first two race wins of the season while Campbell-Pilling made his way onto the overall podium after coming close on numerous occasions.
All three JHR Developments drivers showed impressive pace at Donington Park with Ella Lloyd and Leo Robinson each picking up a podium and teammate Chloe Chong recording her best result of the season in the third race of the weekend.
Ella Lloyd is set to make her debut in F1 Academy this weekend at the Singapore Grand Prix, making way for fellow Welsh driver Harri Reynolds to take over the third JHR entry this weekend.
Making his return to British F4 this weekend is Gustav Jonsson. The 2023 ROKiT British F4 Rookie Champion will line up as part of the Chris Dittman Racing squad, the team he won the Rookie title with last season. The Swede has spent this year competing in the Italian F4 Championship where he currently sits seventh in the standings.
Thomas Bearman and Emily Cotty are both set to make their ROKiT British F4 debuts this weekend.
Bearman will be joining Hitech Pulse-Eight after making his single-seater race debut just last weekend at Round 2 of the Euro 4 Championship at the Red Bull Ring. The 15-year-old has been working his way up through the karting ranks competing in the British Karting Championship, RMC Euro Trophy and BNL Karting Series.
Phinsys by Argenti will have Emily Cotty stepping up to make her British F4 debut after an impressive karting career. She will lineup alongside series regulars Yuanpu Cui and Rowan Campbell-Pilling with Matus Ryba returning to the grid this weekend.
Deagen Fairclough and Alex Ninovic sit comfortably in the top two spots in the Drivers’ Championship; Reza Seewooruthun (Hitech Pulse-Eight) is third with only half a point separating himself and James Higgins. Rodin Motorsport’s Jack Sherwood sits fifth with two-time race winner Leo Robinson moving into sixth overall.
In the Rookie Cup standings, Phinsys by Argenti driver Yuanpu Cui has reclaimed the lead after Donington Park, with Martin Molnar (Virtuosi Racing) in second, trailing by 18 points with two rounds remaining. Rowan Campbell-Pilling continues to hold third place.
Hitech Pulse-Eight heads into the final two rounds with a 26.5 point lead over rivals Rodin Motorsport in the Teams’ Cup with JHR Developments in third.
Qualifying for the C1RCUIT Watches Pole Position Award at Silverstone National starts at 0910 hrs on Saturday morning. Race One of the weekend will be on Saturday afternoon at 1425 hrs with Races Two and Three on Sunday at 0925 and 1330 hrs.
