Mate Kobakhidze strengthens 2026 Xcel squad

Xcel Motorsport is delighted to announce that Mate Kobakhidze will join the team for the 2026 Wera Tools F4 British Championship certified by FIA, marking an exciting new chapter in his career as he makes the transition from karting to single-seater competition.

The Georgian steps up to Formula 4 following a successful karting career, where he consistently demonstrated impressive pace and race craft. His move into British F4 represents the next step in his development on the motorsport ladder, and the team is confident that he has the talent and work ethic to make a strong impact in his rookie season.

After completing an encouraging pre-season testing programme with Xcel Motorsport, Mate quickly adapted to the demands of the F4 car and showed clear potential for the season ahead.

Mate Kobakhidze commented: “I’m incredibly excited to be joining the British F4 Championship with Xcel Motorsport for 2026. Moving up from karts to Formula 4 is a big step for me, and I’m ready to take on the challenge. The team has been very supportive during testing, and I’ve already learned so much.
