Momentum continued to build in March as the 2026 Wera Tools British F4 Championship certified by FIA edged closer to lights out at Donington Park.
Following a February packed with major announcements, the past month delivered a combination of key commercial developments, strengthened Formula 1 ties and crucial driver confirmations – all reinforcing the championship’s position at the forefront of the junior single-seater ladder.
A major off-track milestone arrived just as the month ended with Wera Tools extending its successful title partnership into 2026, continuing a relationship that has become central to the championship’s identity.
Having first taken on title sponsorship in 2025, Wera Tools’ continued backing ensures ongoing support across the paddock—from branding and activation to technical support initiatives—further strengthening the championship’s foundations as it enters a new season.
The extension provides important continuity and highlights the shared commitment between both parties to developing the next generation of motorsport talent.
March also saw British F4’s already strong links to Formula 1 reinforced once again through its partnership with the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team.
For a fourth consecutive season, the championship confirmed that its 2026 Drivers’ Champion will receive an exclusive simulator experience at the team’s Brackley headquarters.
The prize will see the title winner undertake a full programme in the team’s state-of-the-art simulator—mirroring the preparation work carried out by Formula 1 drivers—while working closely with engineers and receiving detailed feedback.
This announcement builds on February’s additions to the prize pool and further underlines British F4’s role as a direct stepping stone towards Formula 1, offering not just track time but elite-level development opportunities.
On the driver front, March proved decisive as several key signings completed team line-ups across the grid.
Among the headline additions was Jackson Wolny, who joins Xcel Motorsport in partnership with FAT Racing after securing his seat through the team’s development pathway – further emphasising the championship’s accessibility to emerging talent.
At Hitech Grand Prix, Adam Al Azhari was confirmed for the 2026 campaign, marking a return to the series and adding valuable experience to the team’s line-up as he looks to build on his previous single-seater outings.
Meanwhile, Cameron Nelson completed the line-up at JHR Developments, stepping up to full-time single-seater competition following an impressive karting career. The 15-year-old arrives as a British Junior Max race winner and international front-runner, and has already gained valuable testing mileage ahead of his debut season.
These additions capped off a busy period of announcements, ensuring that the 2026 grid is now largely in place ahead of the opening round. We do have maybe one or two faces still to announce at some point this season…
With the driver market effectively settled, attention has now shifted fully towards pre-season preparation and testing.
Rookies continue to adapt to the demands of Formula 4 machinery, while returning drivers are focused on refining consistency and extracting performance gains. With three races per weekend and minimal margins between competitors, track time during this phase is critical in shaping early-season form.
Three official group tests were held at Snetterton, Donington and Silverstone – where all of the drivers got the chance to sample some of the UK’s best circuits ahead of lights out next month. Speaking of Donington – we experienced four seasons in one day for the media day with sun, wind, rain, hail and even snow! We certainly like to prepare our drivers for every possible scenario!
We also had a content day at Motorsport UK HQ in Bicester and there will be some cool stuff coming out from that day throughout the year. Keep your eyes peeled on our social channels.
From the extension of a key title partnership, to enhanced Formula 1 integration and the confirmation of the final driver line-ups, the championship has taken decisive steps towards what promises to be another highly competitive campaign.
The countdown is now firmly on. As we write this teams and drivers are heading to Zandvoort for two days of testing to kick-start April before a Brands Hatch GP dress rehearsal leads us into Round One!
