The Wera Tools British F4 Championship certified by FIA is delighted to announce an exciting new partnership with British multinational automotive manufacturer Lotus, with the legendary sports car company becoming the official safety car supplier for the UK’s premier single-seater series.
The Lotus Emira Turbo will take to circuits across the UK as the British F4 Safety Car, leading the field on green flag laps and intervening during Safety Car periods.
Motorsport has been in Lotus’ blood since Colin and Hazel Chapman founded the company in 1948 to go racing, and the marque has earned a reputation for innovations and championships on track ever since.
That pedigree is felt in Lotus road cars including the Emira Turbo, which boasts a lightweight aluminium and composite construction, superlative dynamics, sculpted aerodynamics reflecting the Lotus “carved by air” design philosophy and a characterful turbocharged engine with 8-speed dual clutch gearbox. Together, these deliver Lotus’ trademark confidence-inspiring performance on road and track.
The Emira Safety Car joins the current Emira GT4 race car – already a winner at Macau and in the GT4 European Series – as well as the Emira Cup Concept revealed at the Goodwood Festival of Speed 2025 in the recently-revived Team Lotus, which aims to unite passionate fans and racers at all levels.
In addition to the Lotus Emira Turbo being confirmed as the safety car, the British F4 Championship can also confirm that drivers will compete for the Lotus Fastest Lap Award in each of the remaining races this year – with an extra point being earned by the fastest driver in each contest.
Eve Lake-Grange, British F4 Championship Manager: “We’re delighted to embark on this exciting new collaboration with Lotus which sees the Emira become the Official Safety Car for British F4. For more than 70 years Lotus has been an industry-leading British icon that has continued to evolve and innovate, which matches our status as a championship continually seeking to be the best, both on and off the track. We are all looking forward to what promises to be a prosperous future together.”
Gavan Kershaw, championship-winning racer and Lotus’ Director of Vehicle Attributes: “Racing isn’t just about the drivers – every series depends on marshals and stewards, and we have plenty of passionate volunteers here at Lotus who spend their weekends trackside. We’re proud to offer the Emira Turbo as British F4 Official Safety Car to celebrate our sports car’s ability and recognise the people who make races happen.”
