February 2026 — British F4 Round-Up

With pre-season preparations ramping up ahead of the 2026 Wera Tools F4 British Championship certified by FIA campaign, February proved to be another significant month of announcements — from a major Formula 1 prize for the overall champion, title contending signings and exciting rookies eager to make a mark against the estbalisent.

In a landmark announcement for the championship, Atlassian Williams F1 Team bolstered the 2026 Drivers’ Champion prize list with an exclusive factory experience at its Grove headquarters. The overall title winner will receive a full immersion day with the Formula 1 team, including simulator time, technical insight sessions with academy engineers and a behind-the-scenes tour of the iconic facility. The addition further strengthens British F4’s position on the FIA single-seater ladder, complementing the all-important FIA Super Licence points already on offer.

On the driver signing front…

Cole Hewetson was confirmed as Xcel Motorsport’s first driver for the upcoming season, returning for a second campaign after an encouraging rookie year. Having secured multiple Rookie Cup podiums – including an impressive overall runner-up finish at Brands Hatch – Hewetson now sets his sights on fighting at the sharp end, as both driver and team look to build on the foundations laid in 2025.

Race winner Tommy Harfield was one of the early February headlines, after announcing his return to Chris Dittmann Racing for a second British F4 season. Harfield emerged as one of 2025’s standout performers, claiming victories and multiple podium finishes to firmly establish himself as a front-runner. Armed with a year of experience and continuity with the team, he enters 2026 with clear intentions of mounting a sustained championship challenge.

Xcel Motorsport strengthened its 2026 roster shortly after Hewetson’s announcement with the addition of Jaber Alsabah, who steps up into his first full single-seater campaign. Graduating from the team’s karting programme, Alsabah represents the next stage of Xcel’s development pathway. Completing Xcel Motorsport’s trio of announcements this month was Mate Kobakhidze, who makes the transition from karting into Formula 4 competition. His addition adds further depth to the team’s multi-car challenge for 2026.

Haarni Sadiq will contest a full 2026 campaign with JHR Developments after gaining valuable experience last season. Eligible for the Rookie Cup, Sadiq is targeting consistent progress with a complete pre-season programme under his belt. A week later, Karting front-runner Timo Jüngling was confirmed by JHR. Arriving with a strong international karting pedigree, Jüngling has already begun acclimatising to single-seater machinery with great success ahead of the opener.

Swedish racer Leon Hedfors confirmed his place on the 2026 grid with Argenti Motorsport. After building experience across other Formula 4 series’, Hedfors now prepares for his first full British F4 season as he continues his single-seater progression. His arrival now completes the Argenti quartet.

With championship contenders returning, exciting rookies joining the grid and the Drivers’ Champion prize package enhanced, momentum continues to build ahead of the season opener at Donington Park in April – with teams already out testing at circuits around the country.

Next month, we have lots to talk about. In March, there are four more seats to fill on the grid, new championship partners to announce, another prize for the champion and the first official group tests. Lots to come British F4 fans!
