Hitech Pulse-Eight’s Deagen Fairclough and Rodin Motorsports’ Abbi Pulling are among the ten finalists for the 2024 Silverstone Autosport BRDC Young Driver of the Year Award.
Deagen Fairclough is currently leading the 2024 ROKiT British F4 driver standings, 101 points ahead of second heading into the eighth round of the championship this weekend. His dominant run of form this season has seen him take home 14 podiums including nine wins, two second places and three thirds.
Rodin Motorsport’s Abbi Pulling is the second current British F4 driver to be named a finalist. Sitting sixth overall in the drivers’ standings, Pulling was the first female driver to win a ROKIT British F4 race, earlier this year at Brands Hatch. She’s since made another two appearances on the podium with second-place finishes in Thruxton and Zandvoort.
Reigning ROKiT British F4 Champion Louis Sharp and runner-up William Macintyre have also been named in the final 10 drivers. The pair went down to the wire fighting for the 2023 championship, heading into the final round at Brands Hatch with a single point separating the two. Both drivers have continued to excel in the 2024 GB3 season.
British F4 alumni, Freddie Slater has also been featured in the top 10. Slater, who joined the 2023 grid at Donington Park for the final two events of the season, is currently leading the Italian F4 standings with Prema Racing and is the reigning F4 UAE Champion.
The award aims to assist the best junior British racing drivers with their careers, offering finalists the chance to win the prize of £200,000 and an F1 test with Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team.
The judging panel consists of many leading names within the motorsport industry and includes the likes of F1 driver steward and BRDC vice-president Derek Warwick as the chairman, three-time Grand Prix winner Johnny Herbert and triple Indianapolis 500 winner Dario Franchitti to name a few.
Judges will select a top 4 within the coming weeks, ahead of driving assessments in October which will see finalists take to the Silverstone GP track in F2, GT3 and LMP3 machinery.
The winner will be announced at the Autosport Awards in January.
