2026 Announcement: Ethan Carney joins Fortec Motorsports

American/Australian racer Ethan Carney will step up to the Wera Tools F4 British Championship certified by FIA next season with race-winning team Fortec Motorsports.

Born in New York, the 15-year-old started karting at the age of 12 and made the step up to Ginetta Juniors in 2024, competing in the championship for the past two seasons.

One of Carney’s highlights of his 2025 campaign was achieving a podium finish around the Silverstone Grand Prix circuit for the 500th Ginetta Junior race. He qualified in the top ten at every round of the Championship, half of those in the top five, with a number of front-row starts. His race results were also impressively consistent, securing the fastest lap in multiple races and finishing with numerous top four finishes, resulting in Ethan finishing just outside the top ten in a very competitive 32-car grid.

The Oxford-based driver has already tested the Tatuus T-421 Formula 4 chassis at Pembrey earlier this month, with a full testing schedule planned ahead of his British F4 debut at Donington Park in April next year.

Ethan Carney: “I am very excited to join Fortec for the 2026 British F4 Championship. After spending the last few years in Ginetta Juniors, the move to single seaters continues my journey through the motorsport ranks. Having the support of the entire Fortec team, and their proven race-winning car, I am looking forward to getting to work over the winter, and help build on the success the team enjoyed in 2025 ahead of next year’s Championship.”

Ollie Dutton, Team Principal: “We are really happy to welcome Ethan to the Fortec Motorsports team for the 2026 British F4 Championship season. We had a productive test with him in Wales, and we are excited to begin working together to help him achieve his ambitions. There is a decent testing programme planned to take us into the new season, so we should be well-prepared by the time the lights go out at Donington Park in April.”
