Nine drivers with Wera Tools British F4 experience are racing at the 2025 Macau Grand Prix, including our recently-crowned champion Fionn McLaughlin.
Held at the 6.1km-long Guia Circuit in Macau, an autonomous region on the south coast of China, the Macau GP is one of the most prestigious single-seater races in motorsport, and attracts many of the world’s top junior drivers.
After switching from Formula 3 regulations to Formula Regional cars in 2024, this year will also see F4 racing at Macau for the first time since 2023.
18-year-old McLaughlin from Ireland clinched this year’s British F4 title by a 52.5-point margin, courtesy of five race wins and 14 podiums overall, and the FIA F4 World Cup is set to be his final appearance in the category before he steps up to FIA Formula 3 in 2026.
Lining up on the grid with McLaughlin will be fellow single-seater Rookie and Hitech TGR British F4 team-mate Thomas Bearman, who finished eighth this season with one win and four podiums in total.
Also set to feature in the F4 event is Ary Bansal, who won the British F4 Challenge Cup with Fortec Motorsport, and Emily Cotty, Bansal’s team-mate for the British F4 non-championship round at the F1 British GP at Silverstone.
Over in the FIA FR World Cup, there are five faces who will be familiar to British F4 fans from the past few seasons.
Reza Seewooruthun finished third in British F4 in 2024, before stepping up to GB3 this year, while Kanato Le came seventh in 2023.
Tasanapol Inthraphuvasak, who raced in F3 this season, finished 10th in British F4 back in 2021.
Elsewhere, Freddie Slater and Matteo De Palo, both of whom featured in two British F4 rounds in 2023, are also set to compete this weekend.
Historically, the Macau GP has seen plenty of success for British F4 alumni. Last year it was our 2022 Rookie champion Ugo Ugochukwu who triumphed, after our 2020 champion Luke Browning claimed victory in 2023.
Dan Ticktum, who competed in British F4 in 2015, is a double Macau GP winner (2017 & 2018), while Lando Norris, 2015 British F4 champion; Logan Sargeant, P3 in 2017; and Dennis Hauger, P4 in 2018, have all enjoyed Macau GP podium finishes.
