Carlin’s Zane Maloney ended the final F4 British Championship certified by FIA – powered by Ford EcoBoost practice session on top of the time sheets amidst drizzly conditions at Brands Hatch.
The Bajan racer clocked a fastest time of 1:41.183s around the 2.4-mile GP loop to lower the benchmark for the day overall, 0.194s ahead of chief title rival Sebastian Alvarez (Double R Racing).
His team mate Louis Foster made it three title contenders in the top three positions, with the other – JHR’s Josh Skelton – fifth behind another solid showing from Arden Motorsport’s Alex Connor.
A little under six tenths of a second separated Maloney from Bart Horsten in sixth, setting the scene nicely for the most important – and closely-matched – qualifying session of the campaign tomorrow morning.
Fortec Motorsport’s Roberto Faria was seventh fastest, with Arden’s Tommy Foster and FP1 pace-setter Luke Browning (Richardson Racing) behind. Mariano Martinez (Fortec) rounds out the top ten.
Double R’s Reema Juffali and Arden’s Abbie Munro round out the twelve runners; JHR’s Carter Williams did not participate in the session after a mechanical problem.
Qualifying kicks off the competitive action in Kent at 09:00 BST tomorrow.
