After some bad luck in the opening two events, Carlin’s Zane Maloney is aiming to showcase his true potential in the next round of the British F4 iRacing Trophy at Silverstone (National) on Monday (11 May).
Maloney – the reigning British F4 champion with a record-equalling ten race wins in 2019 – returned to battle his fellow series alumni and the next crop of Ford-powered rising stars on the popular iRacing sim platform utilising the Dallara F3.
Two chaotic races at Donington Park yielded ten points for the Bajan rising star, who then backed it up with fourth in the opening contest at Brands Hatch’s Indy circuit.
However, misfortune then struck Maloney again whilst applying significant pressure to race leaders Johnathan Hoggard and Nico Varrone in the reverse-grid contest, and he was disconnected from the session whilst running third due to WiFi troubles.
“The racing has been a lot of fun, I’ve had a bit of bad luck so far as my Mum was vacuuming while I was fighting for the lead at Brands Hatch, and she hit the WiFi by accident and the sim cut out.” explained Maloney.
“So [I] lost valuable points there but I look forward on hopefully showing the true potential next round.”
