Zane Maloney and Carlin on form at Snetterton in-season test

Current points leader Zane Maloney set the pace at the F4 British Championship certified by FIA – powered by Ford EcoBoost’s in-season test at Snetterton today [24th July].

The Barbados racer topped both sessions and clocked a best time of 1:53.455s around the 2.99-mile Norfolk circuit over the course of seven hours’ running, edging out Double R Racing’s Sebastian Alvarez by a mere 0.123 seconds.

The two were in a league of their own, with the next best car – Richardson Racing’s Luke Browning –  just under four tenths of a second further back.

Namesakes Louis and Tommy Foster led JHR Developments’ racer Josh Skelton – now a race winner in the Ford EcoBoost-powered series following the decision not to re-run the second race at Croft – and his team-mate Carter Williams in a group of four cars split by a single tenth.

Roberto Faria (Fortec Motorsport) split the other two Arden Motorsport machines of Alex Connor and Bart Horsten in eighth, ninth and tenth, whilst Luke Whitehead ended his first test with the rest of the field eleventh overall for Carlin.

Series newcomer Alex Walker was twelfth in the final JHR car, with Reema Juffali rounding out the field. Mariano Martinez was absent with other commitments.

The F4 British Championship returns to competitive action back at Snetterton on 3rd-4th August.
