F4 British Championship certified by FIA – powered by Ford EcoBoost points leader Zane Maloney has sent an ominous warning to his rivals by saying he’s aiming for ‘even better’ results after the summer break.
A record-breaking seven victories on the spin have given the Barbadian a commanding 54-point advantage after five rounds, netting Maloney £15,000 in prizes in the process for winning both the Ford Rookie and Triple Crown awards.
Arguably only misfortune denied Maloney a victory in the season-opener at Brands Hatch after final corner contact with Luke Browning in the second race, but since his maiden win finally arrived at Thruxton in May, the Carlin rising star has been virtually unstoppable.
“This season has started off amazingly,” explained Maloney.
“Five weekends in and we are now the British F4 Championship leaders with quite a few wins. The team have just done an incredible job. The weekend at Oulton Park in particular was unbelievable, definitely the best of my life.
“£10,000, three wins and many championship points. Everyone from Carlin has been on it all year; we’ve put everything together and I don’t think it could be any better. Hopefully we can make it even better in the second half of the season!”
The championship resumes at Snetterton, Norfolk, over the weekend of 3rd-4th August.
