Ticktum has the edge in Thruxton MSA Formula test

THRUXTON 8 APRIL, 2015 – After his strong podium form last weekend at Brands Hatch, Dan Ticktum continued to set the pace today at Thruxton in the official MSA Formula test session. The 15-year-old Fortec driver hit the ground running in the first of the day’s three sessions to set a time which stood for the rest of the day.

Tucktum’s test topper was a 1m 13.334s lap of the 2.4-mile Hampshire circuit, an average speed of 115mph. Arden’s Sandy Mitchell ran him closest, just five-hundredths of a second behind. Mitchell went on to head the times in the third session of the day but was two-tenths away from his own personal best.

At his home circuit, Eversley-based Ricky Collard ended his day third fastest, a tenth off the top for Arden, with JHR Developments’ Sennan Fielding fourth overall. Sennan was the quickest in the generally slower second session, during which he set his best time of the day.

There was good progress made throughout the day by a number of drivers to make it into the top 10, notably SWB Motorsport’s Brazilian charger Rafa Martins, who found eight-tenths over the course of proceedings to end the day seventh overall.

The MSA Formula teams now have a week off before testing resumes at Donington Park next Thursday, 16 April, ahead of rounds four, five and six of the championship.
