TEAM NEWS 24 SEPTEMBER, 2015 – This weekend the penultimate round of the inaugural MSA Formula Championship will be back in action as the title fight continues in earnest with Carlin’s Lando Norris looking to further his championship lead. For Carlin drivers Norris, Colton Herta and Petru Florescu the weekend marks a weekend of racing at Silverstone often considered to be, and referred to as, the home of British Motorsport.
Just two race weekends remain in the 2015 MSA Formula calendar meaning there are only six more races in which to claim further all-important points in the championship fight. For Norris, who has traded places at the top of the table, this means aiming to pull out a bigger lead to Ricky Collard behind him. The gap, currently at 17 points, will be one keenly watched by those up and down the paddock as the drivers fight for the honour of being named the inaugural MSA Formula Champion.
Meanwhile race winner Herta and team-mate Florescu will both be hoping to continue their strong form over the course of the three races this weekend at the Northamptonshire circuit. A shorter track at just 1.64 miles, the layout still includes the famous Maggots/Becketts complex in its configuration.
Norris said: “We know that we have got really good pace in our car so we know that we can be competitive this weekend. The aim is to be on the front row after qualifying and have three very consistent races this weekend bringing home some good points for our championship campaign.”
Herta added: “We want to be carrying the momentum from the past few events where we’ve been particularly strong. This track is quite short, there’s only six corners but it’s good to drive and I think we can have another great weekend. My aim is to improve my championship position and come away from the weekend ahead of my rivals.”
Petru Florescu said of the upcoming weekend: “This season has been a really great one for me, I’ve enjoyed racing in the Championship and I’m looking forward to getting back out on track this weekend at Silverstone. It’s a track that I enjoy driving, although it is shorter than usual, and our goal is to once again pick up more points as we head in to the final events of the season.”
