F4 British Championship certified by FIA – powered by Ford EcoBoost outfit Sharp Motorsport have been awarded the Henry Ford Trophy for outstanding human endeavour in the field of motorsport.

The Rochdale-based outfit – consistent points finishers in Britain’s FIA-sanctioned Formula 4 series against single-seater power-houses such as Carlin, Arden, Double R, JHR and Fortec – were on hand to receive the historic accolade from Ford Performance Europe’s Senior Manager, Gerard Quinn, at the annual BRSCC Awards evening at the Crowne Plaza in Stratford-upon-Avon last weekend [2nd February].

Judges cited the teams’ determination, professionalism and positive approach to competition and promotion of the Ford EcoBoost-powered series as exemplary.

Sharp Motorsport become the first team to be awarded the honour, following in the footsteps of previous winners Lando Norris, Max Fewtrell and Billy Monger.

“It’s absolutely unbelievable to be awarded the Henry Ford Trophy,” commented Team Principal, Joe Sharp.

“To become the first team to win it is an amazing feeling – I’d like to take the opportunity to thank everybody for all their hard work.

“Equally I’d like to express my gratitude to our sponsors – Kelsa Products and Roydon Export – for their continued backing, to Ford Motor Company for awarding us this fantastic honour, and to the entire British F4 organising team, who have become family to us.

“I’m immensely proud of everything we’ve achieved as new-comers to the championship and hopefully we’ll be back in 2019 to continue that upward curve towards the front of the grid.”

The team hopes to return for the start of another ten-event, thirty-race calendar at Brands Hatch on 6th-7th April.
