Double R Racing’s Sebastian Alvarez says he is ready to give the F4 British Championship certified by FIA – powered by Ford EcoBoost title decider “everything I’ve got” ahead of a pivotal weekend at Brands Hatch.
The Mexican arrives at the 2.4-mile Grand Prix loop tied level on points with Carlin’s Zane Maloney at the top of the standings, but crucially cannot match the Bajan on count-back; any victory this weekend will need to be outright.
Alvarez has out-scored his chief title rival Maloney in every race but one since the summer break, turning in a series of great drives to reduce the deficit from 77 points to zero.
The battle between the two reached fever-pitch last time out at Silverstone, contact on the apex of Luffield putting them both out of the race and handing Alvarez’s team mate Louis Foster and JHR’s Josh Skelton an outside shot at the title.
Alvarez has four victories and a further 13 podium finishes to his record already in 2019 – adding to that tally will be crucial if he is to lift the title on Sunday.
“I’m really looking forward to this weekend — Brands Hatch is a track I enjoy,” said Alvarez.
“We’ve all been working super hard all season and we are as prepared as we can be going into the final round.
“Obviously securing the championship is the goal and I’m going to give it everything I’ve got.”
The title will be decided at Brands Hatch this weekend [12-13 October] – live on ITV4.
