• F4 British Championship returnee secures pole position for the final race at Brands Hatch.
• Alvarez aiming to repay Double R Racing’s efforts with silverware in triple-header ahead.
• Opening race of the new season scheduled to get underway at 15:50.
Double R Racing’s Sebastian Alvarez is aiming for silverware after a positive start to his F4 British Championship certified by FIA – powered by Ford EcoBoost campaign in qualifying at Brands Hatch.
The Mexican racer put his Ford EcoBoost-powered machine into third for the season opener this afternoon and will start the final, ITV4-televised racer tomorrow from pole position courtesy of setting the fastest second-best lap time.
In a frenetic session with changeable weather and track conditions, Alvarez was one of six drivers to spend a stint at the top of the timesheets.
Despite only starting third, his margin to the two Carlin machines ahead was a mere 0.031 seconds around the 1.20-mile Indy circuit.
“It’s a good start and I’m excited to see what we can do this afternoon,” said Alvarez.
“We start on pole position for the final race tomorrow afternoon, which is going to be great and is a good result for us. That race is live on ITV Sport too, so let’s see what we can do.”
He also paid tribute to the work of everybody at reigning champions Double R so far this weekend in Kent, with the aim of bringing home some silverware to repay their efforts firmly on the radar.
“Thanks to everyone at Double R Racing for their efforts so far this weekend – hopefully we can bring back some silverware to Woking by the end of it!”
The opening race of the season is scheduled to get underway at 15:50 UK time.
