Double R Racing take the bragging rights into qualifying ahead of this weekends F4 British Championship certified by FIA – powered by Ford EcoBoost triple-header at Snetterton, with Sebastian Alvarez nearly half a second quickest in final practice.
Alvarez jumped to the top of the time sheets in the final quarter of the session, setting a best time of 1:50.996 seconds around the 2.99-mile Norfolk circuit to put the reigning Champions at the front of the field as the focus shifts to qualifying tomorrow morning.
“I’m pleased to end the day at the front, it’s a positive start to the weekend but it’s tomorrow morning where it matters, so we’ll see what we can do then,” commented Alvarez.
He edged out Carter Williams by just over four tenths of a second, the JHR racer celebrating his 21st birthday with second spot. Fortec Motorsport’s Roberto Faria put in a solid drive to third quickest, with the leading Arden of Bart Horsten and Alvarez’s Double R team-mate Louis Foster rounding out the top five.
Josh Skelton (JHR) and Alex Connor (Arden) ended a solid day sixth and seventh quickest, with Luke Browning eighth in the sole Richardson Racing car.
Alex Walker reduced the deficit from the morning to the fastest car by over a second as he ended FP2 in ninth, with the final ‘Red Arrow’ of Tommy Foster concluding the top ten fastest runners.
Championship leader Zane Maloney (Carlin) endured a tough afternoon session, ending up eleventh fastest overall, with the field completed by Mariano Martinez (Fortec) and Reema Juffali (Double R).
The weekends action continues with qualifying, scheduled to take place at 10:55 (BST) ahead of the opening race at 16:25.
