Seb Priaulx delighted with podium return at Silverstone

Sebastian Priaulx was delighted to secure his first podium of the British F4 iRacing Trophy after finishing a close runner-up to championship leader Chris Lulham in the opening race at Silverstone last night.

An impressive qualifying showing put Priaulx – a two-time British F4 race winner in the real-world series – in third, though remarkably only 0.057 seconds adrift of Luke Browning’s pole time in a closely-matched field.

He did well to maintain the final spot on the rostrum amid several first lap incidents, and moved into second behind Lulham as Browning spun heading onto the Wellington Straight on the second tour of the 1.6-mile National circuit.

Priaulx set about bringing down the gap to the leader, which eventually settled at 1.6 seconds by the chequered flag.

The result gave Priaulx a boost in the standings, moving him into eighth overall, just seven points behind Johnathan Hoggard and Zane Maloney.

“It’s really great to be back on the podium, and in such a high level of competition,” said Priaulx.

“I’m really happy with my performance.”

“Me and Chris broke away from the pack in the early stages of the race as they had some drama. This was good for me as I had no pressure from behind.

“I’m really looking forward to Oulton Park next week, as it’s one of my favourite tracks and it’s been good to me over the years!”
