Scholarship winner Casper Stevenson confirms 2020 seat at Double R F4

  • Inaugural British F4 Scholarship winner confirms 2020 seat with Double R F4.
  • Stevenson the latest Ginetta graduate aiming for success in Britain’s FIA Formula 4 series.
  • Season gets underway at Donington Park on 28-29 March, 2020.

2020 F4 British Championship certified by FIA – powered by Ford EcoBoost scholarship winner Casper Stevenson has confirmed his place on the grid at Double R F4.

Stevenson, who triumphed following a wet-weather test, media assessment and formal interview at Silverstone back in November to secure the £35,000 scholarship prize, graduates into Britain’s FIA Formula 4 series from the highly-competitive Ginetta Junior Championship.

He finished sixth overall with nine podium finishes in 2019, and his announcement marks Double R’s first signing for the 2020 campaign.

The 15-year old will also be hoping to match the achievements of Ginetta graduates Lando Norris, Jamie Caroline and Kiern Jewiss before him in stepping across from the Ginetta G40 to the Mygale F4 car and claiming title success at the first attempt.

Stevenson will also benefit from the F4 British Championship’s unique position as the sole single-seater support category on the UK’s highest-profile motorsport package, the British Touring Car Championship.

That means capacity trackside crowds exceeding some 30,000 spectators at most events, along with live, free-to-air TV coverage on ITV4.

The 2020 season gets underway at Donington Park, Leicestershire, on 28-29 March.

“I am extremely excited to be racing in British F4 this year with Double R and Argenti,” explained Stevenson.

“Double R have a proven track record in this championship and I hope to add to their long list of wins.

“Off the back of winning the inaugural Scholarship last year, I am very confident and can’t wait for the red lights to go out at Round 1.”

Double R F4’s Team Manager, Michael Meadows, underlined how impressed the entire team had been with Stevenson at the scholarship, and during subsequent tests, and believes his team’s latest recruit will be competing for silverware from the get-go.

“We were impressed with Casper’s performance during the scholarship day, and have since had successful tests,” commented Team Manager, Michael Meadows.

“It’s his first season in single seaters, but we expect him to be competing for podiums from the outset.

“We want to give him all the information and resources we can to maximise his performance.”
