Pasma tops the times on Silverstone test day

  • Arden racer edges busy day of running at Silverstone
  • Quarter of a second covers the top seven drivers

4 September 2018 – Patrik Pasma maintained his recent strong form in the F4 British Championship certified by FIA – powered by Ford with a pace-setting performance during a day of testing at Silverstone yesterday (3 September).

Having taken five podium finishes in the last six races, including a pair of wins at Rockingham, the Arden driver emerged on top of the pile following a busy day of on-track activity at the circuit that will play host to the penultimate meeting of the season later this month.

Pasma set his best time during the afternoon session and left it late to make his move to the top, setting three quick laps with little more than ten minutes remaining that would all have been good enough to lead the way.

As it was, a best of 56.967 would prove to be the best, with the Finn the only driver to break the 57s mark – something he would do twice. That was however still three tenths of a second down on the lap record held by Colton Herta.

Behind Pasma, Arden team-mate Jack Doohan ended the day with the second best time having earlier headed Pasma during the morning running.

Doohan would also leave his quickest laps until late in the day as he ended up just 0.056s down on top spot. Ayrton Simmons (JHR) rounded out the top three with Knockhill double winner Johnathan Hoggard setting the fourth best time in the only Fortec car present.

Manuel Sulaiman (JHR) followed just behind in fifth with current championship leader Kiern Jewiss heading the Double R challenge in sixth – just 0.004s clear of team-mate Paavo Tonteri.

Dennis Hauger (Arden), Josh Skelton (JHR) and Seb Priaulx (Arden) rounded out the top ten with Priaulx being the only driver who failed to improve on his fastest lap during the afternoon session.

Sebastian Alvarez (Double R) and Christian Lester (Rosso Verde) completed the twelve drivers in action, with the latter continuing his testing programme as team and drive evaluate a potential entry into the series.

British F4 will be back at Silverstone on the weekend of 15/16 September for Rounds 25, 26 and 27 of the season.
