30 NOVEMBER, 2015 – Newly crowned MSA Formula Champion Lando Norris has confirmed that he is to graduate from the Ford EcoBoost-powered series to contest a dual programme of Formula Renault 2.0 Euro Cup and NEC events in 2016 with Josef Kaufmann Racing.
The Somerset youngster, who has just turn 16, will also contest selected UK events in the BRDC’s junior single-seater series with his old team Carlin.
Despite having had little rest since his brilliant victory in the inaugural season of the MSA Formula Championship, the ADD Motorsports racer can’t get wait to get going again. He said: “I’m really excited to be working with Josef Kauffman Racing next year, but equally happy to be back with Carlin again after the brilliant season we’ve just had. We’ve done some testing with Josef Kaufmann which I really enjoyed and was always in the top three, so I’m looking forward to continuing with the team next season.
“I’m also really pleased to be back with Carlin and my engineer Stefan de Groot after winning the title with them. We’re hoping to be right up there again and competing for trophies on both fronts.”
Lando notched up eight wins on his way to becoming this season’s FIA Formula 4 Champion of Great Britain, reaffirming his status as one of the world’s most exciting young drivers. He signed off from his glittering karting career in 2014 as the youngest ever World Championship winner when he took the CIK FIA KF crown, also finishing third in the Ginetta Junior Championship and taking the Rookie Cup.
Lando dominated the final day of the Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 winter tests at Circuit Paul Ricard last weekend. He came out top in both sessions and will now continue with further tests privately.
