Mansell hails “amazing achievement” after securing Rookie title

Christian Mansell paid tribute to his Carlin team after wrapping up the Rookie Cup title at last weekend’s F4 British Championship certified by FIA – powered by Ford EcoBoost title decider at Brands Hatch.

Mansell, the latest Australian rising star to make their way through Britain’s FIA Formula 4 series, widely impressed in his first full season of single seater racing, scoring a phenomenal 14 class victories – and a further 9 podiums – from 26 races to be crowned the 2020 Rookie Cup winner.

The 15-year old Carlin racer’s form in the outright championship has also helped put Mansell on the map as ‘one to watch’, taking an outright victory at Brands Hatch back in August, plus a further four outright visits to the podium.

Three of those came at last weekends season finale, Mansell managing the tricky conditions across the triple-header to end his first campaign in car racing on a high.

“What a weekend! To be on the overall podium in every race, take all three wins in the Rookie Cup and wrap up the title is just phenomenal – I’m super happy!,” said Mansell.

“This year was always going to be a learning year as it was my first in cars but to have achieved what we have done is just amazing and a real testament to how hard we’ve worked.

“I’ve learnt so much about the car and the tracks this year, and I couldn’t be happier. I have to say a huge thank you to everyone at British F4, Carlin, my sponsors and my family – without them this wouldn’t have been possible.”
