Luke Browning quickest in rain-soaked final practice

Points leader Luke Browning (Fortec) hit the front in a rain-soaked final F4 British Championship certified by FIA – powered by Ford EcoBoost practice session at Snetterton.

Showers over the lunch break had already made wet tyres the order of the day, but the heavens opened once again mid-session and made improving on earlier lap times a near-impossible task.

A red-flag for Rafael Villagomez (Fortec) at Oggies then brought the session to a premature end with five minutes left on the clock.

Browning’s 2:14.493 stood as the benchmark time, half a second clear of chief title rival Zak O’Sullivan (Carlin). Their nearest challenger Alex Connor was over 1.5 seconds further back, with the inclement conditions leaving the field uncharacteristically spread out.

Connor’s team mate Roman Bilinski (Arden) was fourth for the second session in succession, with JHR’s Abbi Pulling rounding out the top five.

Casper Stevenson (Argenti) was sixth fastest, ahead of Christian Mansell (Carlin), the Aussie leading the way among the Rookie Cup entries.

Matias Zagazeta made it all three Carlin challengers in the top eight, less than a tenth clear of JHR’s James Hedley.

Frederick Lubin (Arden) rounds out the top ten, ahead of Reema Juffali (Argenti) and Villagomez.

Competitive action begins with qualifying around the 2.97-mile Norfolk circuit at 09:05 tomorrow [24 October].
