Louis Foster keen to keep learning after positive opening weekend

Double R Racing’s Louis Foster is keen to continue learning after taking his first victory in the F4 British Championship certified by FIA – powered by Ford EcoBoost at last weekend’s season-opener at Brands Hatch.

The 16-year old could only manage seventh amid wet conditions in the season-opener around the 1.2-mile Indy circuit, but responded in perfect fashion during the first ITV4-televised contest on Sunday, emerging victorious from a thrilling scrap with team-mate Sebastian Alvarez to take second on the road, which became a maiden victory in the Ford EcoBoost-powered series after a penalty for provisional winner Luke Browning.

He then underlined a strong start to life in Ford’s winning formula with fourth in the finale, the net result of which leaves him third overall in the standings, 18 points adrift of points leader Alvarez.

“Overall, it was a really positive weekend,” said Foster.

“Taking my first win in only my second race is a fantastic feeling and is the perfect way to kick the year off. I struggled on Saturday, in qualifying and the first race in the wet conditions, but came back on Sunday looking to put that right and that’s exactly what I did.

“I had some great battles out there and maybe got a bit too close with my teammate but managed to get away with it to pick up my first British F4 win!

“I know there’s a lot for me still to learn if I want to be at the top every race, but I’m still really pleased with the opening weekend. To be leaving the first round with a good haul of points, and sitting 3rd in the standings, is a fantastic way to start the year and I can’t wait to get back out on track at Donington.”

The championship returns to action at Donington Park, in Leicestershire, over the weekend of 27th-28th April.
