Josh Skelton says the goal after the summer break is to get back on track and return to fighting at the front when the F4 British Championship certified by FIA – powered by Ford EcoBoost resumes at Snetterton.
The JHR Developments racer has five podiums – including his first win – in Britain’s FIA-backed junior single-seater series so far in 2019, with Oulton Park last time out yielding a brace of second-place finishes for the 18-year old.
Overall, the Cumbria-based driver currently sits fifth overall, 125.5 points adrift of standings leader Zane Maloney with a maximum score of 375 still available across the remaining five meetings.
Four non-scores have largely contributed to that, but Skelton remains undeterred and is aiming to return from the four-week break in top form as he looks to begin closing the gap.
“The first half of the season has had many ups and downs for me, and we’re looking to build on this for the second half of the season and come back confident and fighting at the front,” said Skelton.
“We’ve had issues in a few races and some DNFs which have lost us a lot of points, but we will never give up. We had a good round last time out at Oulton Park and managed to get some strong points on the board, so I’ll be looking to pick up from where I left off.
“I’d like to say a massive thank you to JHR Developments. We’re all in this together, and without them none of this would be possible. Their hard work has been crucial in helping me achieve the results I have.
“I’m looking forward to getting back on track after the summer break and chasing down more points.”
The F4 British Championship resumes at Snetterton, Norfolk, on 3rd-4th August.
