Josh Skelton is focused on ending a positive F4 British Championship certified by FIA – powered by Ford EcoBoost campaign on a high at the Brands Hatch season finale.
The JHR Developments racer remains an outside contender for the title, 59.5 points adrift of joint championship leaders Zane Maloney (Carlin) and Sebastian Alvarez (Double R Racing).
Though his record-breaking run of nine consecutive podium finishes ended last time out at Silverstone, Skelton has been among the most consistent runners in Britain’s FIA-sanctioned Formula 4 series in 2019 and could capitalise on any mistake for the trio ahead.
His breakthrough victory came in torrentially wet conditions in a red-flagged reverse-grid race at Croft and he added to that tally at Thruxton after a dramatic final chicane pass on Tommy Foster (Arden).
Two wins and a further 13 podiums make for a strong record heading into the final triple-header of the campaign in Kent.
“Heading into the final round at Brands Hatch, my mind set won’t change one bit, I’ll be as focused and ready as ever,” insisted Skelton.
“I’ll be taking each race as it comes and I’m looking to achieve some strong results to end the season on a high.
“In terms of the championship, I sit fourth and it’s a fairly big margin to gain ground so as I see it, I have nothing to lose so I’ll be giving it everything.
“Brands Hatch GP is a very iconic track to drive around, so I’m looking forward to hitting it in FP1 on Friday morning.
“Overall, the season so far has been very positive in developing myself as a racing driver, we have had a few ups and downs but I have achieved a lot throughout the year, so hopefully we can finish this off on a high at Brands Hatch.”
The championship will be decided at Brands Hatch this weekend [12-13 October] – live on ITV4.
