Joel Granfors completes Fortec clean sweep in Thruxton practice

Joel Granfors made it a Fortec Motorsport clean sweep in practice ahead of this weekend’s F4 British Championship certified by FIA – powered by Ford EcoBoost triple header at Thruxton after topping the final session of the day in Hampshire.

The Swede, third fastest in the earlier running, clocked the benchmark time on this occasion, his effort of 1:13.195 around the high-speed, 2.35-mile circuit enough to put him a tenth clear of nearest challenger Eduardo Coseteng (Phinsys by Argenti).

Coseteng was just 0.022s in turn ahead of team-mate Matias Zagazeta, the Peruvian completing a strong day’s work in third. FP1 pace-setter Ollie Gray was on course to make it a Fortec 1-2 at one stage, but ultimately had to settle for the fourth quickest time.

Joseph Loake led through two red-flag interruptions early on, but was shuffled back to fifth ahead of JHR Developments team-mate Abbi Pulling in the final reckoning.

Marcos Flack enjoyed an improved run to seventh in the third of Argenti’s quartet of challengers, with Arden Motorsport’s Zak Taylor similarly bouncing back, in his case from mechanical maladies in FP1, to register eighth in the afternoon.

Kai Askey (Carlin) led current championship leader Matthew Rees (JHR) in ninth and tenth respectively, with Dougie Bolger (Carlin) a further tenth back in 11th.

Aiden Neate (Argenti) and Tasanapol Inthraphuvasak (Carlin) were split by a similar margin in 12th and 13th behind, whilst Arden’s David Morales improved one position on his FP1 effort to end the session 14th.

McKenzy Cresswell (JHR) and James Hedley (Carlin) rounded out the runners, having caused one stoppage apiece; the former had to stop early with a fuel pressure issue, with the other forced to pull off with an as-yet-undefined problem at Allard.
