Joe Turney underlined his gratitude to Carlin after a positive start to the F4 British Championship certified by FIA – powered by Ford EcoBoost season at Brands Hatch, in which the British karting graduate was unfortunate not to take a maiden race victory first time out.
The 17-year old sensationally claimed pole position amid wet conditions, clocking a best lap of 46.346s around the 1.2-mile Indy circuit to take top spot by just 0.01s from team-mate and fellow debutante Zane Maloney.
Though Turney would be denied a maiden race win over the subsequent triple-header of races, the British and World X30 Champion acquitted himself well on his first weekend in the Ford EcoBoost-powered series, and put his thanks on record to returning outfit Carlin.
“I was delighted to join Carlin at the last minute on their return to the F4 British Championship and for my maiden single seater race,” said Turney.
“With so little car time we were really happy with pole and unfortunate not to take a race win over the weekend.
“My car was immense and I have to thank all of the team for the hard work before and during the weekend.”
The championship heads next to Donington Park over the weekend of 27th-28th April.
