Fortec Motorsport pleased with continued progress after consistent points

Fortec Motorsport’s Roberto Faria and Mariano Martinez are pleased with their continued progress after another consistent points haul in the second F4 British Championship certified by FIA – powered by Ford EcoBoost meeting of the season at Donington Park.

For Faria, the highlight proved to be a charge through the field to sixth in the opening contest, before an unfortunate coming together with Luke Browning at the top of the Craner Curves pitched his Ford EcoBoost-powered machine into the barriers in race two, forcing him out.

He would, however, strike back in the ITV4-televised finale to the weekend, taking the final point in tenth and claiming his second Rookie Cup podium of the weekend.

“Overall, it was another positive weekend for us,” said Faria.

“We fought through the pack in the first race to finish in the top six, which gave us the reverse-grid pole position. Although that didn’t end as planned, these things happen sometimes in racing and we’ll take the positives forward from the situation.

“Points in the last race and two Rookie Cup podiums keeps me in the battle heading to Thruxton, where we’ll be aiming for another strong set of results. A huge thank you to the entire team at Fortec Motorsport for their hard work and support over the weekend.”

Team-mate Martinez also took a double points finish from the triple-header in Leicestershire, equalling his best finish of the campaign so far in race two with eighth after recovering from a mechanical problem mid-race.

He also claimed ninth in the final race to continue his consistent points haul, underlining his confidence as the championship heads next to Thruxton over the weekend of 18th-19th May.

“I think it’s clear to see we are making good progress after the results at Donington Park,” said Martinez.

“Although it was frustrating not to score points in the first race, we recovered well from a problem in race two to equal my best result of the season in eighth against some tough opposition and then to take more points in race three.

“I’m feeling more confident with the car with each race and it shouldn’t be long before we start challenging the top six. Thanks to everybody at Fortec Motorsport for all their support and preparation of the car. We’ll keep pushing at Thruxton!”
