27 OCTOBER, 2017 –¬†Oscar Piastri continues to make his next steps up the single-seater ladder after being crowned vice-champion in the F4 British Championship certified by FIA – powered by Ford EcoBoost less than a month ago. The talented teenager has been invited to attend the Official FR2.0 Rookie Test in Barcelona, Spain on 31 October, 2017.

Every year Renault Sport invites a number of motorsport’s most promising and exciting junior talents to attend the Rookie Test with complimentary entry, tyres and team placement.

“It’s a great honour to get the official invite from Renault Sport for the Rookie Test. I’ve tested at Barcelona before in the British F4 car, it’s a great track and I’m really looking forward to running the Renault car there. The track should be really gripped up after the Eurocup race on the weekend so if the weather is clear I think we’ll see some fast lap times”, said Oscar.

The 16-year-old Aussie single-seater ace had a stellar debut season in the 2017 F4 British Championship with 6 wins, 15 podiums, 7 pole positions, the Joe Tandy Memorial trophy and the Driver’s Choice award to his name. He then stepped into the FR2.0 NEC series the following week at Hockenheim to achieve two top 10 finishes on his debut.

“I’ve been working hard in the simulator and on my strength and fitness since Hockenheim earlier this month. Also, I’ve spent a week back home in Australia catching up with family and friends over the school break so I feel recharged and relaxed.”

Piastri will attend the Barcelona test with a familiar team in Arden Motorsport, the same team that brought him through the 2017 F4 British Championship.
