Double R Team Manager elated after maiden Teams Cup triumph

Double R Racing’s F4 Team Manager Matthew Willett underlined his delight after the Woking-based outfit secured the Teams Cup title at Silverstone last weekend.

A hat-trick of victories split between Driver’s title contenders Louis Foster and Sebastian Alvarez, plus another strong showing from Reema Juffali proved enough for Double R to secure their first ever F4 Teams Cup title.

The team has an impressive eight pole positions, ten race wins and twelve fastest laps to its record in 2019, with both Alvarez and Foster set to battle it out with Carlin’s Zane Maloney and JHR’s Josh Skelton for the title at Brands Hatch in a fortnight.

“Everybody at Double R is delighted to have secured the Teams Cup title,” said Willett.

“It’s been a real team effort from everybody; the engineers, mechanics and drivers have all worked really well together and we’ve seen the benefit of that in our performance out on circuit.

“It’s such a competitive championship, so being at the front is never a given. Silverstone was an incredible weekend – a clean sweep of victories between Louis and Sebastian, plus another really positive showing and some points for Reema. Ultimately, that proved enough to get us across the line.

“It’s already been a great year for the team so far – eight pole positions, ten race victories and twelve fastest laps – now our focus turns to Brands Hatch in less than a fortnight, where we’ll hopefully add a second consecutive Drivers’ title to that list!”

The 2019 season concludes at Brands Hatch (GP), Kent, over the weekend of 12-13 October.
