Double R F4 have confirmed Chilean racer Nicolás Pino will complete their line-up for the 2020 F4 British Championship certified by FIA – powered by Ford EcoBoost season.

The deal marks a full-time switch to single-seaters for the 15-year old, with Pino graduating into Britain’s FIA Formula 4 series following a busy year in international karting, with the Chilean participating in the FIA World and European Karting Championships (OK), along with the WSK EuroSeries.

Pino also made his debut in Formula 4 machinery with a one-off appearance at Sepang, Malaysia, in late September as part of the F4 SEA series, scoring a hat-trick of top six finishes across the four races.

He will join new team-mates Casper Stevenson and Reema Juffali in the new-for-2020 partnership between Double R and Argenti Motorsport and will be eligible to compete in the Rookie Cup.

In switching to the F4 British Championship, Pino will also benefit from its unique position on the UK’s premier motorsport package, the British Touring Car Championship, with capacity trackside crowds and live, free-to-air television coverage on ITV4.

The opening round of the season takes place at Donington Park, Leicestershire, over the weekend of 28-29 March.

“It’s great having the opportunity to race in British F4 with Double R and Argenti Motorsport,” commented Pino.

“I’ve had the opportunity to race with great karting teams and very professional people, and I think this team is one of those too. They always go for more, and I love that.

“I’ve come all the way from Chile and it is a great opportunity for my career and I hope we make the most of it and have some good achievements for me and the team throughout the year.”

Double R F4 Team Manager Michael Meadows underlined his happiness with progress made in winter testing and is excited to follow Pino’s progress in the year ahead.

“It’s great to welcome Nico to the team,” said Meadows.

“We had some good tests at the end of 2019 and it was great to see him improve all the way through them.

“It will be his first year in car racing, so there is a lot to learn but we will give him all the help and support he needs.

“We’re excited to see what he can do this year.’
