Mariano Martinez is pleased with his consistent points-scoring form thus far and is aiming for further developments after the F4 British Championship certified by FIA – powered by Ford EcoBoost’s summer break.
Martinez, who also ranks among the championship’s most prolific over takers so far in 2019, has steered his Fortec Motorsport-run machine to points on eight occasions to date.
He currently sits 12th overall, with team-mate Roberto Faria just ahead in the standings.
His aim when the championship resumes at Snetterton next month is to keep progressing as he and Faria work their way gradually towards the sharp end of the grid.
“To have scored points in almost every race against a really competitive field is a testament to how well the first five meetings of the season have gone,” said Martinez.
“It’s all about development and together with Roberto and everybody at Fortec Motorsport, it’s clear to see we are making steady, consistent progress towards the front of the grid.
“When we’ve been in those situations, our race craft has been up there with the best of them, I’ve made up a handful of positions in all but three races so far, which is a really good record to have.
“The aim after the summer break has to be to continue pushing towards the front of the grid. Even if it’s through a reverse-grid, if we’re at the front I think we have a good chance of staying there. Silverware isn’t too far away!”
Snetterton hosts the sixth meeting of the campaign on 3rd-4th August.
